Welcome to Vital Guitar Lessons

What does Vital Guitar offer that a paid service doesn't?

  1. Vital Guitar is FREE. You are not expected to pay anything to use this service.
  2. All my lessons are online so you can learn at your own pace in addition to learning anywhere you have a guitar an internet access. Moreover, there is no strict learning regimen, no homework, and you can practice as much as you want, whenever you want.
  3. I incorporate your suggestions into my lessons and you get credit. This means if something is confusing or unclear, all you have to do is contact me and I will revise my lesson(s) to clarify as much as I can. I will list your name at the bottom of a lesson page even for asking so much as a question. In other words, this site is constantly improving
  4. I have walked in your shoes and understand what it is like to be self taught. Many lesson videos skip the basics altogether or don't talk about fundamentals in enough detail. I have taught myself how to play guitar for nearly eleven years and and understand that teaching yourself can be difficult (but very rewarding) if you don't have the right materials to learn from. My lessons are specifically designed to help you get past rough spots that other free lesson sites may not.
  5. I focus on sound fundamentals. You must learn to walk before you run. I take extra care to make sure you learn the basics properly before exposing you to more difficult material.
  6. Everything in this site builds upon itself. I am extra careful to use words only after I thoroughly introduce and define them, right down to basic words like "frets", "guitar neck", "pickups", to name a few. I also do the same for notation.
  7. I frequently repeat concepts throughout a lesson to help you understand the most important points. Many teachers (in general - not just guitar teachers) will tell you an important word or idea and never bring it up again until the day of the test. I have found that I learn best from the teachers that repeat important concepts and this works especially well in learning guitar. My lessons reflect this important learning method by repeating important words and ideas.
  8. Did I mention this site is free?

A message for you

Hello! Please feel free to have a look around and make yourself feel welcome. I hope that you will find this site has helpful as much as I had fun (and continue to have fun) writing lessons. I have many personal beliefs that lead me to creating this site. For one, I believe that education should never come at a premium. Many people charge upwards of 80-100 dollars per lesson, which I was never able to afford (and don't blame you if you can't either!). You will you never see those prices here. In fact, everything on this site is 100% free and will remain 100% as long as I continue to receive support in the form of donations.

I am a believer in the honor system and that people are inherently good. If you find my lessons helpful and have any amount to spare, please donate to support my cause. In return, I will continue to provide the best service humanly possible.

If you are unable to afford to provide even a small donation, I understand completely. You can support in other ways; by liking the facebook page, or tweeting about the site. I hope that at the very least you will accept this site as my gift to you and do something positive for someone else in return. -Vital Guitar Admin
